Increasing Job Satisfaction

12 Days of Tips for Speech Pathologists in Private Practice: Day 2 – Increasing Job Satisfaction

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

As speech pathologists in private practice, we all want:

  • safety and respect;
  • good relationships with our clients and colleagues; and
  • opportunities to grow as professionals and people.

Hertzberg tells us that job satisfaction is more than just a lack of job dissatisfaction.

Both matter!

To increase job satisfaction, increase:

  • achievements;
  • recognition;
  • responsibility;
  • meaningful work;
  • opportunities for advancement; and
  • personal growth.

To decrease job dissatisfaction, increase:

  • working conditions;
  • co-worker relations;
  • clear policies/rules;
  • supervisor quality; and
  • pay.

What are your job satisfaction priorities for 2024? Let us know in the comments!

Check back tomorrow when we’ll be providing tips to combat resistance.

In the meantime, here’s a link to our book “How to Supervise Speech Pathologists Properly in Private Practice” where we discuss job satisfaction in greater detail.
