Description

This 200+ page no-prep bundle includes:

1. Think, then Write (Volume 1): How to Write Complex Sentences – a fully scripted, no-preparation Printable Workbook with scaffolds for students of all grades

Inspired by The Writing Revolution (Hochman & Wexler, 2017), this no-prep workbook is designed to support students of all years/grades to learn how to craft effective complex sentences. It features five, fully scripted modules, each focusing on a different compound or subordinating conjunction, including:

• • “because” and “so” – for cause and effect relationships;
  • “but” for contrastive relationships;
  • “if”, “except”, “unless” and “until”, for conditional relationships; and
  • “while”, “before” and “after” for relationships between events connected by time.

2. Think, Then Write (Volume 2): a no-prep workbook to write paragraphs

This no-prep workbook is designed to support students of all years/grades to learn how to craft effective paragraphs. It features five, fully scripted modules:

• • Module 1: Topic sentence identification
  • Module 2: Writing supporting details
  • Module 3: Writing strong topic sentences
  • Module 4: Writing concluding sentences
  • Module 5: Pulling it together: writing strong paragraphs

3. Think, Then Write (Volume 3): a no-prep workbook to learn transitions and writing short multi-paragraph reports

Transitions are “signal words” that indicate a relationship between ideas. Transitions may begin a sentence, link ideas within a sentence, and create links between sentences. They help to make paragraphs and writing projects easier to read and to understand.

In Part 1 of Volume 3 pack, students will learn how to use and practice:

• • time and sequence transitions to explain events/steps;
  • cause and effect transitions;
  • transitions to give examples;
  • transitions to give emphasis to a point;
  • contrast transitions to change direction; and
  • transitions to finish a point.

Part 2 of Volume 3 is a no-prep pack is designed to support students to write short multi-paragraph reports, using a scaffold or outline to plan the project, as well as fully worked examples they can use as models for their own work.  Included in this resource are outlines for:

• • a movie review;
  • a video/computer game review; and
  • a book report on a work of fiction.
