At around 48-54 months of age, typically developing children start to make logical predictions about what will happen in familiar situations, often based on their knowledge of the world. Some people – including people learning English as a second language, people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and people with language disorders – have difficulties making predictions.
This 43-page no-preparation pack is designed to help people who have difficulties making predictions about what will happen next. Using words and pictures, this pack is designed to stimulate the development of semantic knowledge and verbal reasoning skills to help people of all ages to make predictions in everyday activities. When working with students, accept any logical answer, but favour more likely possibilities.
In each exercise, the second box has been left blank to give students an opportunity to draw and/or write a response. To make the exercise more difficult, ask the student to think of other things that might happen.
