Description

“Room on the Broom”, by Julia Donaldson, is one of my clients’ favourite books. And for good reason. It’s a rollicking tale about new friends recounted in lively, almost hypnotic verse. Although the art by Axel Scheffler is wonderful, the book’s popularity owes much to its use of language, including the variety of specific verbs and concrete nouns, the repetition of key phrases, and the clever weaving together of simple, compound and complex sentence structures.

In this 54-page oral language companion to the “Room on the Broom”, we have adopted some of the language used in the book – the vocabulary, sentence structures, and events in the original tale – to create an oral language workout that’s fun and challenging.
