- Writing a topic sentence that makes a clear, specific claim
- Selecting evidence and explaining it, not just quoting or stating it
- Linking each paragraph back to the overall argument or narrative
- Editing paragraphs for unity, cutting sentences that don’t belong
Suited to students whose writing has good ideas but reads as a list of loosely connected sentences rather than developed paragraphs.
