Speech-language pathologists work with adults every day to communicate confidently.

Read on to learn what adult speech therapy involves and how it could help you.

Who would benefit from adult speech therapy?

Speech therapy supports adults with communication challenges and serves a remarkably diverse population.

CHRONIC CONDITIONS

Adults who stutter and professionals with voice disorders (e.g., teachers, speakers, singers) who are managing ongoing communication challenges.

MEDICAL RECOVERY

Stroke survivors, people with acquired brain injuries, Parkinson’s, ALS, MS, or anyone recovering communication skills post treatment.

AGE-RELATED CHANGES

Older adults addressing memory, word-finding difficulties, voice changes, and language difficulties that emerge over time. .

What do we work on?

Adult speech therapy focuses on functional, real-world goals tailored to your specific needs and daily life.

Everything we work on is chosen because it matters to you.

Real world benefits:

How it works: the process

01

Complete our short questionnaire:

A brief form gives us background before we meet. We may also ask you to send relevant reports ahead of time so we can come prepared.

02

Meet with us:

We meet with you in-person at the clinic or via Telehealth (Zoom), and do our best to get to the bottom of whatโ€™s going on. We’ll take time to understand your challenges and what you hope to accomplish. From there, we’ll work together to create goals that are evidence-based, personalised, and focused on what matters most to you.

03

Therapy and real-world practice:

Our aim is to equip you with strategies you can use outside the clinic. We typically recommend around 5 sessions, followed by a break to practise your skills independently. When you’re ready to work on new goals, we’re here.

What to bring: nothing at all, just yourself.  Please dress comfortably, and weโ€™ll provide refreshments.
