Supported decision-making: what health & education professionals need to know and do (and to help)

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

NDIS providers, allied healthcare professionals, and educators supporting people with disability need to know about supported decision-making to do their jobs competently.

Fortunately, a wealth of excellent free resources are available to get informed about supported decision-making, thanks in large part to the generous work of people with disability, disability advocates, academics, and government and not-for-profit organisations.

In this post, I highlight and share some of the best free resources I’ve come across while learning about legal capacity and supported decision-making so that we can assist our clients to make and communicate their own decisions.

“Deciding with Support” is a toolkit designed with and for people with disability as supported decision makers. Made by a team of people with disability, academics at Flinders University, @CIDvoice, disability advocates, and others, it is designed to help people make decisions about their behaviour support plans: https://decidingwithsupport.flinders.edu.au/

Thanks very much to Dr Jo Watson for highlighting these two additional resources:
